"The partners with whom I work are approachable, and the open door policy is authentic."
- DeNae Thomas, Senior Associate, New York
I have a broad-based complex commercial litigation practice involving representation of major financial and auditing institutions in both federal and state courts. I have also represented clients in matters before the Securities Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
On a typical day, I help prepare witnesses for federal and state court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and investigatory interviews. I confer with my colleagues about litigation strategies and the various motions and briefs I am drafting, including trial- and appellate-level motions and discovery-related documents. Partners are sincerely interested in hearing associates' ideas about litigation strategies and allow us the opportunity to have a real impact on the direction of cases at an early level.
Through my service as a co-chair of the Associates Committee and as a member of the New York office's Women's Working Group, I've been able to develop my leadership skills. I am also a member of the Summer Associate Committee and, as a lateral, I enjoy being a resource for other lateral attorneys who have recently joined the firm.
Outside the Firm
My colleagues at Hogan Lovells understand that maintaining a rich and rewarding life outside of the law beneficially impacts their practice.
I enjoy running along the Hudson River, listening to live music, and trying new restaurants with friends. I love living in New York City and am always looking for opportunities to explore the city.
