"Once I demonstrated my abilities to the supervising partners, they delegated to me greater responsibilities in a variety of complex transactions and at the same time provided me with support and guidance whenever I needed it. This enabled me to develop my skills much faster."

Focus
I focus on both public finance and project finance.
Getting to know Hogan Lovells
I joined Hogan & Hartson in 2005 as a lateral. While I was practicing in the public finance area at another Denver firm, I worked with Hogan & Hartson lawyers on several projects and really enjoyed that experience. In addition, in Colorado, the firm’s Public Finance practice has an excellent reputation and our lawyers are highly regarded. I wanted to be a part of that group and practice.
From early on, I was given direct contact with clients and challenging projects. Once I demonstrated my abilities to the supervising partners, they delegated to me greater responsibilities in a variety of complex transactions, and at the same time, provided me with support and guidance whenever I needed it. This enabled me to develop my skills much faster.
Experience
Since the merger, we have worked closely with our colleagues in the London office to develop a Public Private Partnership (P3) practice in the United States. Our London colleagues have a broad P3 experience in Europe and other parts of the world and we are trying to build on that experience in developing a similar practice in the U.S.
One of the most memorable projects that I have been involved with — both because of the complexity level and its importance for the Denver metro area — is the redevelopment of the historic Denver Union Station and the surrounding area in lower downtown Denver as a hub for a number of transportation modes in the Denver metropolitan area. This project represented a first-time cooperative effort between the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration in providing federal loans to finance transportation-related improvements. Because this project required the involvement of lawyers specializing in many areas of law, it has given me an opportunity to work with many lawyers in multiple Hogan Lovells offices, which created a true team experience.
